Duel with Scrabble
I have been exploring the aspect of scrabble. Not that I am much of a word person. Though I am planning to increase my vocabulary or at least improve it. With the current usage of abbreviations I think it is a tough task ahead.
I think the most obvious dilemma is when you have 5 ‘I’s a ‘V’ and ‘F’. in such a scenario making a word seems a nightmare. The next question arises which is the right word. According to me, “UR’ is a perfectly valid word. Both I and my friends know the word but scrabble disagrees. Scrabble suggested BIOTITE (which is supposedly mica) but MS Aord disagrees, so now you know my problem. Besides I can’t still understand how to exchange my tiles. The scoring for me definitely lacks on numerous accounts.
I guess I will try building my score on HAT and PAT. Till next time when I can conjure up a long word to show off my new found talent.

well my options... if you can find a hanging "E"...would be FIVE... if you find a hanging "W" would be WIFE :P
Also never heard of the MS Aord... new word processing program, what ??
You can play scrabble online on facebook.you are sure to learn a lot of high scoring strategies there
Sen that's MS Word. LV you and at loss of words. I can't believe it.
@ Sen: you quoting a hypothetical scenario of me geeting an 'E' (my fav letter). Too much Scrabble ruins ones spelling skills(Proof - MS Aord)
@ Nav: Strategies huh, technology and me don't work together. We end up confusing each other.
@ Tarun: As always my saviour, thanks for clarifying the major doubt on MS Aord. With you around I am always at a loss for words coz you never allow me to speak (hehehehe)

scrabble he he he...my mom bought the normal board game when i was in primary i tried for a while and found it bit too much for my small brain so dumped it somewhere and pretended to my mom that I left it in her room and she is the one who lost it ;)...I have never played the game till date...but after reading this i am gonna get a scrabble board soon...
@ Lancelot: I should say try it, but the recent migraines i have been getting suggests otherwise. I think the fun is in challenging the words created by others. Let me know how was your duel with scrabble

The problem with me playing the scrabble is i tend to create new words and try to prove its right by giving weird analysis...for instance once at college,
I had Champagne (Non-Alcoholic, OC Champagne given at Spencer’s Plaza for some promotion) and was bragging about it to a girl, (I am not very good with english during college days as i did my schooling in tamil medium)
ME: I had CHAMP-INE (pronounced it exactly like this) yesterday
She: Its not CHAMPINE Arun, its SHAMP-INE(the actual pronunciation)
Me:No you are wrong if its Alcoholic then its called SHAMPINE, if its Non-Alcoholic its called CHAMPINE :P
so i guess i will give migraine to scrabble board..
